While Daddy's away, the girls will play...
...with toys that is. Wow, that's changed it's meaning a little bit. Dan is away with some customers this weekend, so it's just Rylie and me. Unfortunately, she's been fighting a nasty cold for almost a week now, so she will more than likely want some extra snuggle time, but that's fine with me! Her suction ball is my new best friend and her worst enemy. I think we're both hoping this will start to clear up so we can put that thing away. The cold seems to bother mommy more than it does Rylie. She still wants to jump away in her jumperoo. She lacks a little of the enthusiam she usually has in it, but it's still keeping her happy.
We're working on sitting up this weekend. She's so close! She does really well with the boppy around her and will sit for a while without it too before she leans a little too far one way or another and ends up on her tummy.

6 Months Old!
Rylie had her 6 month check-up tonight and 4 more shots :-( She's doing great. She weighs 14 lbs 10 ounces and is just a bit short of 26 inches. Still long and lean, but she did gain exactly 3 lbs from her 4 month check-up. She's a good eater, so maybe she has her daddy's crazy metabolism! The doctor said she should sit up on her own any day now...she's on the verge and has very good head control.
My friend Sarah took pictures of her little lady each month with the same background and we have been following her lead. I just thought it was neat to see how much Rylie changes from month to month. Here are a few 6 month pictures.

Rylie's Thoughts on the Packer Game...
It's hard to hear Dan in the video, but he's asking Rylie what she thought about the game. Then he asks her what she thinks about the ending. This pretty much sums up our feelings on it too.

Happy New Year!
2009 was an unbelievable year for us. Too many blessings to count! We are looking forward to the good times to come in 2010. To celebrate New Year's Eve this year, we met my mom and dad in Wisconsin Dells and stayed at a resort there. My dad had tickets to a concert at Chula Vista for Friday night- the former singer and guitarist of Boston (a concert I saw with my dad when I was 14). So on Thursday night, we just hung out at the hotel and played some cards and had a few drinks. Rylie decided to ring in the new year by not sleeping! Shortly after we all went to bed...she decided to wake up and stay up. She must have been anticipating the big day she would have on Friday...her first time in the pool! We didn't get a lot of smiles, but no tears either!
Christmas Festivities
Rylie had a great first Christmas! And the weather cooperated enough for us to travel. This year we spend the majority of the holiday with Dan's family. For now, we are on an every-other-year schedule. We celebrated Christmas Eve at Jerry and Trudy's house. We went over to their house in the afternoon to open a few gifts, went to church and back for dinner and more gifts. Christmas morning we went over to Chris and Leslie's house to see what Santa brought for the kids. From there we left for La Crosse. We made it in time to see Grandma Kearns and headed to my parents house for the annual prime rib and crab legs dinner and more gifts to finish up the night.
Auntie Elaine was also in town from Texas for the weekend so she was able to spend some time with Rylie and then Dan and I were able to go out with her to the Eagle's Nest for some drinks that night while Grandpa and Grandma put Rylie to bed.
We miss Auntie Elaine SOOOO much!
We had such a great weekend. Christmas seems to go by faster and faster each year and I'm sure it will only get worse.
