Reagan's 3rd Birthday!

Reagan's 3rd Birthday was on a Monday so I took the day off work to spend with my girl.  We got Rylie off to school, spent some time outside, went to Mommy's appointment to see the baby, and met some family for lunch.  She took a long nap and when Ry got home from school we went to the park! Dan worked that day and had golf league that evening so once he got home we did presents and ice cream cake.  Their big family party is coming up in June.  Reagan is having a Sofia the First party and Rylie is having a gold theme since it's her big GOLDEN birthday this year.

Singing to the birthday girl!  Morning cartoons in mommy's bed

Reagan at 3 years old...

First of all, her speech is crazy.  She is definitely making up for lost time.  At her 3 year appointment she saws the nurse, PA, and doctor and talked all of their ears off.  They said she's definitely hitting all of her verbal milestones. LOL.  She does.not.stop.talking.  Which I love.  I love the sound of that sweet little voice that we waited so patiently to hear.  And the facial expressions that go with it are the best part.

She weighed 28.2 lbs and is 35 inches tall.  We got rid of the paci at about 2 1/2 and we're working on potty training.  She's been ready and it's on us at this point to just dedicate the time to doing it, which we haven't done.  So that will likely be accomplished up at the cabin this year, which is where we trained Rylie.  It's just easier because we're with her for a straight week and there is consistency to the process. Then she'll be ready for 3K in the Fall.

She started climbing out of her crib quite a while back, so we moved her into the twin bed that Rylie used first.  And then the girls decided they wanted to share a room.  We had told Rylie that when she turned five she could sleep on the top bunk, so we moved Reagan into the bottom.  I'm wasn't sure how long that would last, but soon they won't have a choice!

She loves jumping, dancing around, singing, and swimming. She loves acting out the Princess Ivy song (a song from a Sofia the First episode).  She recently started singing to Taylor Swift songs like her big sister.  Unlike Rylie, she is very opinionated on what she wears.  In the Winter she only wanted to wear leggings.  She wanted nothing to do with jeans.  And in the Summer she only wants to wear skirts or dresses.  She doesn't want anything to do with shorts. She also has to do everything on her own- "I do it myself", so it takes 10 years to get dressed. She knows her colors and counts to 10.

For a while there everything she said started with"super".  I supa hungwy, I supa tired, dat supa yummy (rubs her belly), dat supa yucky (waves her hands at it).  The last one sums up her appetite.  Everything is super yucky and she eats practically nothing.  She has an appetite only for things that aren't good for her.  At 3 year old she pretty much survives on cheese crackers.  I ask her what she wants for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and the answer is the same: cheese crackers. I can get her to eat yogurt, applesauce, watermelon, orange, apple- but definitely nothing two days in a row.  What she eats one day, she will not eat the next.  She'll eat bacon, sausage, beef jerky sometimes pizza.  No other meat, no peanut butter, and will not try anything new either.  At this point, I'd love for her to eat some hot dogs or chicken nuggets!  LOVES donuts, chocolate, cookies, candy, etc. So that has been the biggest challenge for us.  I think part of it is a texture thing.  She also doesn't like to have anything wet or messy on her hands.

She loves dressing up like Princess Sofia, "punzel", playing Anna and Elsa, mommy and baby.  Her imagination has really been expanding and she's been doing a lot more pretend play. She says "you be Elsa, I be Anna" and she falls to the ground or "you be mommy and I be baby" and she starts crying. She and Rylie love to go shopping and fill up Sendik's or Target bags full of everything they can find from every area of the house and "check out" with the cash register.  Reagan walks around taking orders for food from people - "what you like?" She has started packing a purse or bag with all her treasures when we leave the house. She also likes to play puppy and crawls around the house waiting for someone to pet her.  She tells us she's a girl bandit and she's going looking for gold.  She dresses like a cowgirl and says yee haw. She tells us she's Elsa and is going to freeze everything to ice.  Or she's Princess Ivy and will turn everything to black and white with her magical powers and then "take over your whole kingdom".  She is a pirate and says Ahoy Matey!! .

She loves Rylie's bed and tries to sleep with her every night.  Our mistake was letting it happen for a weekend.  She likes to do whatever her sister is doing. She's very stubborn and does not like to apologize. She gets very upset when she gets scolded and sits and cries, but for the life of her will not apologize.  It's about a 20 minute process.  She pulls hair, hits, and pinches.  So there is constant tattling going on.  She delays bed time as much as possible and comes in our room and says "I tell you a secret", or she gets up in our bed and says "just a couple more seconds" and snuggles in.  She takes a little princess flash light to bed and we see the light bouncing off the walls in the hall way. She goes to bed late and gets up early.  She does sleep through the night the majority of the time, but no matter what time she goes to bed, her internal alarm goes off at 5:30am.

She still runs to me when I get home from work.  We're still surprised we haven't ended up in the ER with her.  She's constantly running into things, falling down, etc.  Some of our recent incidents with her are when she took her diaper off and comes running out with her legs wet.  I said did you go potty?  She said yes.  I said where.  She said "Ry Ry's room.  I cover it with book".  Sure enough there is a book laying in the middle of the floor.  I pick it up and there is a giant pee soaked spot underneath.  There was a weekend about a month ago where she came into our room at 5am and we were trying to get her to go back to sleep.  She kept moving and kicking so I decided to go into her room and go back to sleep in her bed.  Shortly after I wake up to Dan telling me he has to go out and meet an officer in the driveway because she held down the emergency call button on my phone and called 911 twice. Constant adventures with this one and she keeps us on our toes.

I'm trying to take advantage of snuggling up with her at night time when she asks me too.  I know it's going to go fast and I love laying and singing with her or talking a little bit, just like we did with Rylie. I love when she puts her hands up to my face or those little arms around my neck and hugs me tight.  She gives good hugs and big kisses.  She takes a deep breath and holds it and puckers those lips up...it's so cute.

I have loved this stage and how much she has grown.  I love how much Reagan is talking and the conversations she has.  Her imagination has developed so much and she's very independent.  She has this amazing little personality that fits her so well.  We just love her to pieces.

May- the month for landscaping

My first Saturday coffee on the patio...my favorite.
And it was finally warm enough for popsicles that day too.
Ry getting ready for her big date with Daddy- the girl scout troops in our area held a Father/Daughter dance.
Looking like a 16 year-old
And he even brought her purple flowers, her favorite color
Wearing her "spin" dress

She had so much fun dancing the night away!

More outside time.  The month of May has been typical- 80 degrees one day and 50 the next.
16 week belly

Rylie's first sign to her sister to stay out of her bed
We I set a few deadlines for some projects early this year because we decided to have the girls' birthday party at our house again this year instead of Kinderberg Park since our basement is 98% of the way finished.  We decided to rip our our half bath in March and it's getting closer and closer to being finished.  A couple more coats of paint and we can start installing the trim, toilet, vanity and fixtures.  We have one more weekend that we're at home before the big party.  We also wanted to tackle the yard this year.  We've lived in our house for seven years and we've ripped everything out of the flower beds and we cut down five trees so it's time we start putting things back in place.  It means a lot of sod, a lot of mulch, and a lot of plants (eventually).  We're doing the flower beds in somewhat reverse order.  I've looked at a bed of dirt/rock for the past two years, so I decided to weed block/mulch everything first and start with a blank slate.  Over time this Summer and in future Summer's we'll continue to add plants.  Luckily my trusty yard workers have been here several weekends putting in full days of work to help us accomplish this.

New sod...one down 4 to go.

The prep work
While the sod was being laid, mom, Reagan and I planted the garden

We put her to work all over the place!
In the mean time, Rylie was enjoying her end of the year Daisy party at the bowling alley

After a full day of yard work, we had a wedding to attend for one of my old co-workers.

Happy Mother's Day!

So thankful for these two little ladies and the little one in my tummy too!

The following weekend we were back at it.  My parents came back to help us do all of the mulch and Dan go the drywall hung in the half bath so that one of his guys from work could mud/tape/texture it that weekend as well.

10 yards...about 2 yards more than I actually needed.

These two weren't much help with the mulch.

Prep work..raking out rocks, leveling out dirt.

Followed by the weed block

Looking SOOOO much better

We would have never accomplished it all with out these two!

Sod is done, mulch is done.  Now for some plants!

And a celebratory bonfire.
Mud/tape/texture- ready for paint!

We spent the following weekend, Memorial Day, at my parents house.  I had some business meetings in Eau Claire and Sparta that Friday so we drove out Thursday night and stayed for the weekend. The girls enjoyed the warm weather in the "baby" pool.

And a trip to Ranison's- my childhood candy/ice cream shop

Rylie had "high interest" day at school where they can choose several activities to participate in or learn more about.  She came off the bus looking like a kitty cat :)

Current weekend- my parents are here to help us with final details in the yard before the party and it's 50 degrees and raining.  So we're trying to make some progress on this half bath instead.  The coats of white are done.  Now for some horizontal stripes- my husband loves me :)
