May- the month for landscaping

More outside time.  The month of May has been typical- 80 degrees one day and 50 the next.

We I set a few deadlines for some projects early this year because we decided to have the girls' birthday party at our house again this year instead of Kinderberg Park since our basement is 98% of the way finished.  We decided to rip our our half bath in March and it's getting closer and closer to being finished.  A couple more coats of paint and we can start installing the trim, toilet, vanity and fixtures.  We have one more weekend that we're at home before the big party.  We also wanted to tackle the yard this year.  We've lived in our house for seven years and we've ripped everything out of the flower beds and we cut down five trees so it's time we start putting things back in place.  It means a lot of sod, a lot of mulch, and a lot of plants (eventually).  We're doing the flower beds in somewhat reverse order.  I've looked at a bed of dirt/rock for the past two years, so I decided to weed block/mulch everything first and start with a blank slate.  Over time this Summer and in future Summer's we'll continue to add plants.  Luckily my trusty yard workers have been here several weekends putting in full days of work to help us accomplish this.

After a full day of yard work, we had a wedding to attend for one of my old co-workers.

So thankful for these two little ladies and the little one in my tummy too!

The following weekend we were back at it.  My parents came back to help us do all of the mulch and Dan go the drywall hung in the half bath so that one of his guys from work could mud/tape/texture it that weekend as well.

Sod is done, mulch is done.  Now for some plants!

We spent the following weekend, Memorial Day, at my parents house.  I had some business meetings in Eau Claire and Sparta that Friday so we drove out Thursday night and stayed for the weekend. The girls enjoyed the warm weather in the "baby" pool.

And a trip to Ranison's- my childhood candy/ice cream shop

Rylie had "high interest" day at school where they can choose several activities to participate in or learn more about.  She came off the bus looking like a kitty cat :)

Current weekend- my parents are here to help us with final details in the yard before the party and it's 50 degrees and raining.  So we're trying to make some progress on this half bath instead.  The coats of white are done.  Now for some horizontal stripes- my husband loves me :)
