Three Months Old

The littlest lady turned 3 months old the Saturday after I returned to work.  It's getting harder and harder to get my butt out the door every morning because she is just so darn cute.  She has started smiling and cooing a lot.  She loves to smile right after she eats and when she first wakes up.  She also has a thing for ceiling fans...they can get her to smile any time of the day.  She is eating really well- 4 ounces or more at a time. She has to be getting close to 12 lbs now.  She was just over 11 mid-August. So she's packing on the weight unlike her sister.  She will soon enough weigh half as much as Rylie (as she is a whopping 28 lbs). She holds her head up really well and likes to be in a sitting position so she can look around and see everything.  She gets very excited and kicks like crazy.  I'm trying to soak up all the snuggles I can knowing that those days will end too soon! We just love her to pieces. Here are her 3 month photos:

Summer Getaway 2012

This is our 3rd year that we've spent a week up North with my family.  We soooo look forward to this week every year. It's usually a nice break from work for me although this year I've been on a "break" since mid-May.  We don't necessarily disconnect from everything- Dan still does some work and sends emails.  It's the downside to having phones that basically do everything- we can still check email, Facebook, blogs, text, etc.  However, we love that it's just us up there.  We don't have to be anywhere by any certain time.  We can wake up early or late.  We go for paddle boat rides, fish, lay in the sun, play with the kids, do puzzles and just relax. I love having the extra hands of my parents and usually my brother (he couldn't make it this year because he has a new job!) to keep the girls entertained.  Especially this year because we were potty training Rylie while we were there. It was fairly successful as she has been in her big girl underpants for about 3 weeks now.  We still have accidents here and there, but we're almost there!

Rylie had a great time fishing for the first time (using her princess fishing pole) and spent more time doing it than I thought she would. Daddy had asked her if she wanted to catch a musky.  So after the first cast she got this sad look on her face and said, "But I didn't catch my musky."  She did catch a few little perch, a rock bass and a sunny.  She would lean over the side of the boat and yell "bite fishies bite!"  And when she caught one, she would reel it in until she could see the fish and then have Papa take over. She immediately instructed him, "You let him go Papa!"

We ate a lot, drank a lot and relaxed a lot.  And the week flew by as usual.
