Dan, Erin, Rylie, Reagan, & Rory: A Weekend Getaway

Dan and I celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary in September and planned on spending a long weekend somewhere with a beach. Our original plan was Gulf Shores for some golf and relaxation. But as it got close to Sept., we were both really busy at work and with the uncertainty of my Grandma's health, we just didn't want to book anything. So we pushed it back to later in October. We were only a couple of weeks away and still just couldn't commit to buying plane tickets. And when it came down to it, neither one of us felt we could take that much time off work. Fall through December is the busiest time of year for me at work and Dan seems to be busy all year, so we decided to just take a couple of days off and escape to Door County for a long weekend. I have never been there and the last time he was there was as a child, so it was a nice little trip, but not a lot of travel time, so it worked out great. And they have a lot of wineries, so we couldn't go wrong :-) We're still planning on doing a beach vacation, but we're waiting for the new year.

Dinner in Sturgeon Bay Thurs. night at 136 Wine Bar- AMAZING food.

We stayed at the LandMark in Egg Harbor, which was great as each unit are like little condos so we had a full kitchen and separate bedroom area. Egg Harbor is also a great location to stay- it's not too far from Sturgeon Bay, but still only about 20 minutes from Fish Creek. Each building also had a hot tub/sauna area which was nice. We spent Friday exploring the area. Our first stop was at Stone's Throw on our way across to Bailey's Harbor. We had lunch there and then drove up to the point to see Washington Island Ferry and drove back down the other side through Sister Bay, Ephraim, Peninsula State Park, Fish Creek, and finally back to Egg Harbor. We went to the hotel bar/grill that night for dinner and stayed for quite a few drinks too. On Saturday we decided to spend more time in Fish Creek as that was where a lot of the shopping was. We first went to Door Peninsula winery where we bought another half case of wine and stopped at both the Door County coffee shop and Door County candle company. It was a great getaway weekend and I would definitely recommend it. We can't wait to take the girls in the Summer.
